The San Benito Special Olympics Bowling Team recently competed at the Winter State Games in Austin, with athletes earning a total of 13 medals and four awards. The athletes represented San Benito High School and San Benito Veterans Memorial Academy campuses.

“I’m really excited that they competed and did great at the state level,” Tamez said. “Our athletes really wanted those medals. I’m really proud of them.”
Committed to the Special Olympics motto, “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt,” the local Special Olympics Program empowers special education students to become physically fit, productive, and respected members of society through sports training and competition.
