Introducing Athletic Director/Head Football Coach

San Benito CISD recently hired Daniel Gomez, a Raymondville native, to serve as the district’s Athletic Director/Head Coach for the District 32-6 A San Benito Greyhounds.

Gomez, a Raymondville High School graduate, attended Odessa College and Austin Community College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and a minor in History from the University of Texas at Brownsville.

•Middle school athletic coordinator

•7th & 8th grade football team coach, leading both to identical 6-0-1 district records and 9-0-1 overall in District 32-3A

•Head coach for the 8th grade girls’ track, where he guided the team to a 32-3A District Championship

Hidalgo ISD 2003-2004

•assistant Varsity/Junior Varsity football defensive end coach

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD 2008-2011

•assistant coach

•offensive run coordinator/offensive line coach

•special teams coordinator/coordinator for strength and conditioning

Mexia ISD 2011-2012

•Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach

•assisted the team in entering the 2011 Texas State Football playoffs with a Class 3A Bi-District qualification.

 

Lytle ISD 2012-2014

•Athletic Director/Head Football Coach

•In 2012, he helped direct a second place finish in the state cross country 3A meet and a state championship team in 2013.

•The women’s basketball team secured a Bi-district championship title in 2012, along with a men’s Bi-District qualifier.

•Lytle also recorded a district championship in baseball along with an area qualification. •During his first year as a head coach, he finished runner-up in District 29-5A and qualified for Bi-District.

•In 2013, the team earned a 5-0 record in district play and secured the first 29-3A Championship title, finishing the regular season with a 7-3 overall record and earning a bi-district qualification.

•coached 17 All-District selections in 2012 and 22 in 2013.

 

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD 2014

•Associate Head Coach, where he assisted the head football coach in the organization, supervision and administration of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School athletic program.
